What You'll Learn

The FSRT course covers scoping, mitigation, cleaning, deodorization, subrogation, spoliation, documentation of residential and commercial fire and smoke damaged structures and contents. Participants will learn:

  • How different substances can influence the difficulty of the cleanup (organic vs inorganic burned materials)
  • Insurance coverages and working with adjusters
  • Contents cleaning, including wood furniture, documents, books, and electronics
  • Jobsite safety protocols
  • Surface preparation and finishing
  • This course is required to earn Master Fire and Smoke Restorer designation.

IICRC Certification

To earn certification, students must pass the certification exam, which is available for an additional fee paid directly to the IICRC.

Students must visit www.iicrc.org to register online and submit the exam fee prior to or on the first day of class.

Please keep a copy of your payment confirmation or have the means to log in at the end of the scheduled class to report to the instructor once exam registration is complete. You will need to provide proof of registration to complete the exam on the last day of training. Please contact the IICRC with any questions regarding this process.

If you have already registered for a class and want to add more students to your group at a later date, follow the steps below:

  1. The primary registrant in your group must login to the class/event site.
  2. Click on ""Already registered? Login Here!" followed by "Welcome Back! Modify Your Registration Here!"
  3. Click on "Modify Group Registration" at the top of the page and skip to Step 5 to add more students to your group.
