Course Overview

The IICRC Contents Processing Technician (CPT) certification is designed to provide an education for technicians in the practice of contents recovery and processing from loss events such as fire, water, mold, and trauma scenes.

This certification covers the best practices of contents processing, including inventory, documentation, storage, and pack-back methods for cleaning.

This course has been approved for (14) IICRC CECs.

What You'll Learn

The CPT course provides the essential knowledge base to perform and document contents processing from start to finish. Participants will learn:

  • Health and Safety 

  • Determination of total losses 

  • Restoration of contents subjected to various sources of contamination  

  • Inspection, Inventorying, Wrapping, Packing, and Transport 

  • Cleaning science, deodorizing, post-cleaning evaluation 

  • Storage, and pack back principles (chain of custody) 

  • Estimation and invoicing 

  • Customer etiquette and client communication 

  • Efficient workflow and crew responsibilities

IICRC Certification

To earn certification, students must pass the certification exam, which is available for an additional fee paid directly to the IICRC.

Students must visit www.iicrc.org to register online and submit the exam fee prior to or on the first day of class.

Please keep a copy of your payment confirmation or have the means to log in at the end of the scheduled class to report to the instructor once exam registration is complete. You will need to provide proof of registration to complete the exam on the last day of training. Please contact the IICRC with any questions regarding this process.

All class fees must be paid via credit card at the time of registration. We accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. 

If you have already registered for a class and want to add more students to your group at a later date, follow the steps below:

  1. The primary registrant in your group must login to the class/event site.
  2. Click on ""Already registered? Login Here!" followed by "Welcome Back! Modify Your Registration Here!"
  3. Click on "Modify Group Registration" at the top of the page and skip to Step 5 to add more students to your group.
